Farah Khan, the famous choreographer and film maker revealed an interesting truth that his father Salim Khan was opposed to the idea of Salman becoming an actor. This sneaky peeking into the family side of the matter gives an interesting texture to the life of one of the long-lived superstars of the industry.

Salman Khan did make Salim Khan, one of the highly renowned script writers who was famous already because of his association with the legendary movie like Sholay, initially worried when Salman Khan contemplates joining the world of acting in the footstep of his father. During an interview Farah Khan, long time acquaintance to the Khan family, discussed the issues that Salim Khan had reservations about. Salim Khan, the father of Salman, who had his own successful career in the world of Bollywood, did not want his son to start acting, as Farah says. He had thought that the film industry was hard and he was worried that Salman may not stand out in the league of other established actors.

According to Farah, Salim Khan was not sure, because as a protective father, he also wanted to know that the film industry was very competitive. He had witnessed scores of talented young actors who had come and gone; he saw some succeed in a business that needed talent and lucky and some who failed. Salim Khan was not wrong in worrying because the Bollywood has been quite a fickle industry where success is never guaranteed, no matter what your lineage is.

Salman Khan did not give up on his desire to make it big in the industry as his father did not recognize him. It was a small role in Biwi Ho To Aisi but it was his other film Baaghi(1990) which took him to a more prominent position as an actor in the film industry. Throughout the years, Salman Khan had perfected his charisma, his versatility and the way he captivated the audiences as well as the critics. He has since become one of the best-paid and most bankable actors of Bollywood with many blockbusters such as Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kick, Sultan and Tubelight.

The skepticism of Salim Khan was based on his concern but it later transformed into great pride. Salman has his story of great success in the industry today not only as an actor but also as a producer, philanthropist and the mentor of many in the industry as the Khan family celebrates his remarkable achievements. The story of Salman Khan going on to become a major star in Indian cinema from an insecure and inexperienced young actor shows how strong and focused he was, and it is evident that his father was doubtful in the beginning but that did not stop him.

The fact, revealed by Farah Khan, that Salim Khan was afraid to live and work in the movie industry at a young age is an insight into a fascinating family as well as the career decisions. It brings to the fore how even the most successful and well-meaning persons can at times have their doubts and fears about their loved ones and it is particularly so in taking an uncertain course. In the example of Salman Khan due to perseverance and confidence of his dreams he was proven wrong by his father.

The story of Salman Khan is an inspiring one that tells us that success does not always come easy and when it does, there is always some form of difficulty and uncertainty, but a positive attitude and strong will enable the individual to reach his or her goals and see their dreams come true.
