Hulu Changes the Name of Disney+ International Content Experience
Starting October 8, if you are an international Disney+ subscriber, you will see a change on your own home screen. The Star tile will be replaced by a tile for Hulu. The change makes the international service the same as the U.S. version, putting all of Disney's general entertainment content under the well-known Hulu brand around the world.
Disney+ International Gets a New Look
The Star tile has had more adult content from Disney's FX, 20th Century Studios, and Searchlight Pictures studios for people in other parts of the world. With this update, all of that content will be moved to its own tile under the Hulu brand. The change should go smoothly, and all the movies and TV shows that used to be on Star are now in the new Hulu section.
The Reason for the Rebranding
Disney is making this change on purpose so that all of its streaming services around the world have the same brand identity. Earlier this year, Disney was able to add Hulu content to Disney+ in the U.S. through the "Hulu Hub." The Hulu brand's international growth of the company's streaming services lets the company keep its portfolio to just one brand, which keeps the brand strong. Disney will join the ranks of well-known companies that have made the entertainment industry their own by using the well-known Hulu brand. This will make Disney the go-to source of entertainment for both family-friendly and adult-oriented dramatic and comedic content.
What Remains the Same
The brand and name of the tile will be different, but the content will stay the same. Subscribers will still be able to watch their favorite movies and shows. The big library that used to be available under the Star brand will still be there, but now it will be called Hulu. The goal of this rebranding effort is to make things easier for users and bring all of Disney's great entertainment resources together under one strong brand.
