 Kingdom Roars at Box Office: Vijay Deverakonda Packed Day 2 Pulls in 17.5Cr

Vijay Deverakonda starrer much-hyped historical action drama Kingdom is making waves at the box office. On the second day, the film picked up where it left off on its first day as the movie gained momentum with 17.5 crores in all languages bringing its total domestic box office collection to 35.1 crores.

Kingdom is a return of sorts to high-octane cinema, directed by Rajeev Menon, with the larger than life character clearly resonating with the audience. The film in the pre- independent period traces the growth of the rebel warrior who takes the colonial power head on with determination, passion and political intelligence.

Breakdown of the Day 2 Collection

Trade analysts found Kingdom to have a marginal decline as compared to its opening day collections ( 17.6 crore), yet it retained a grip on the urban multiplexes and mass circuits. The Telugu version topped the charts followed by Tamil and Hindi, dubbed versions that too had satisfactory penetration owing to the pan-Indian star presence of Deverakonda.

In the case of Vijay, his presence in itself will bring in an initial pull but with Kingdom, it is content matching Vijay, says trade expert Ramesh Bala. The weekend numbers will help in defining whether this film has legs or not.”

The film has garnered critical acclaim by the moviegoers with its epic visuals, raw action, and emotional narrative style. The character played by Deverakonda especially during the speech scene of the climax has become one of the selling points among the internet fans.

Given that the trend continues, trade pundits reckon that Kingdom will be able to surpass the 60 crore data point before the conclusion of its opening weekend, with Saturday and Sunday still to go.

Even with theatres registering full houses in South India and with rising occupancy in urban cities, Kingdom is also set to emerge as one of the biggest hits ever of Deverakonda who is likely to have his first solo 100 crore grosser.
